Chairs for Marni

Earlier this year, Marni presented a collection of 100 chairs at the furniture design event Salone del Mobile in Milan. The chairs were constructed by former prison inmates in San Gil, Columbia and all proceeds went to the charity ICAM institute: helping the children of imprisoned mothers live in a more family like environment.
The chairs are things of pure beauty as you can see and constructed of colored plastic pipes on a salvaged metal frame. They recall for me our previous post on the contemporary twist by many designers today on the traditional African plastic chair. Design is global. Bravo Marni!
